• be responsible(accountable) for

• = answer for=take charge of

• =take responsibility for

• =assume any responsibility(liability) for

• =be in charge of

• You are responsible for his failure. (너는 그의 실패에 책임이 있다)

• “be responsible for...”는 일반적인 경우 법률적 책임을 지겠다는 뜻 여기서 전치사 “for” 이하는 손해배상의 책임을 지겠다는 의미로 해 석. 그리고 여기의 경우처럼 매매계약의 명시조항에서 사용되는 형 용사 “responsible” 또는 명사 “responsibility”는 특별한 경우를 제 외하고는 상대당사자에 대한 “손해배상책임”으로 해석하는 것이 바 람직하다.
